Present Status & Progress

The test track on Mumbai – Konkan – Goa section of NH-17 km. 302/600 to 306/00 has been constructed under this scheme. The period of construction was April and May 2002. The performance of test section is being monitored regularly. Last post construction observations of the test track were taken in June 2005.

Findings/Conclusions
The test track has been constructed in April to May 2002. Total length of test track is 3.4 km, from km. 302/600 to 306/00. One km of length (km 304/0 to 305/0) is constructed using B.B.M. and on either side B.U.S.G. track is constructed. As per MoSRTH Guidelines for comparison of test tracks (B.U.S.G. and B.B.M.), post construction observations will be recorded for three years. Accordingly, pre-monsoon and post monsoon observations are being recorded. Roughness Index and visual observations of the test track are also taken. From these observations, it can be said that the performance of the test tracks is very good up to till now. As per D.S.R. unit construction cost of B.B.M. is 20.24% less than that for B.U.S.G. Hence B.B.M. is technically suitable and economical as compared to B.U.S.G. Final observation will be taken in June 2005 and subsequently a final report will be prepared.
