NEW PROJECTS
Study on the Stability and Drainage Characteristics of MORTH Gradings for Granular Subbase

Date of Start: June 2004
Highways Research Station, Chennai (R,I)

Scope and Objectives
To study the stability and drainage characteristics of the six gradings outlined by MORTH for granular sub-base and compare it with the sand-gravel mixes for which LL, PI and CBR requirement alone are satisfied.

Methodology

Laboratory CBR and permeability test to be conducted on the six gradings outlined by MORTH specification Sand gravel mixes.

Significance / Utilisation

To find the feasibility to use the locally available soil mixes which do not satisfy the grading requirements outlined by MORTH as granular sub-base.
