Findings/ Conclusions
It has been observed that the fatal accidents are high during the night time and simple accidents are high during the day. Also the accidents are high during the months of March to June. The pedestrians, cyclists and two wheeler riders are involved in accidents in large numbers. Strict enforcement of lane disciplines and proper enlightenment of road safety principles to the road users could bring down the accidents.

Recommendations

(i) Traffic signboards have to be erected wherever necessary as per IRC – 67 – 2001.
(ii) Parking of vehicles along the Inner Ring Road should be restricted.
(iii) Separate motorcycle lanes and cycle tracks may be provided throughout Inner Ring Road.
(iv) The delay caused at TVs Lucas signals may be minimized by the construction of grade separators.
(v) Encroachments on the Inner Ring Road should be removed.
