Road Safety Audit for Select Stretches on Inner Ring Road

Scope and objectives
(i) To assess the adequacy of geometric features of existing road junctions and mid block sections.
(ii) To study and appreciate the existing road signage and signals, lighting and side objects.
(iii) To study the safety of pedestrians and non-motorized vehicle operations.
(iv) To identify and to give possible suggestions and remedial measures to improve the black spots.

Methodology

The Secondary data on accident collected from the Police Department and Highways Department would be analysed to find the characteristics of road accidents like the type of vehicles involved and nature of accidents occurred. Field surveys would be conducted using staff of Traffic Lab and Traffic Engineering Division. The black spots would be identified and studied to find the major causes of the accidents and finally various suggestions and recommendations would be given.
