Safe Road to School

Scope and objectives
(i) To prepare road safety education material for educating students.
(ii) To impart training to students and teachers on road safety, identifying accident risk and understanding accident abatement      measures.
(iii) To identify safety problems specific to school children and the roads around school.
(iv) To develop SRS Action Plan for the identified schools,
(v) To develop a general methodology for extending the programme to other schools throughout the state, and
(vi) To sensitize authorities to implement SRS Action Plan.

Methodology

The SRS Programme has the following three components,
i. Training Module
The training module consists of Introduction to SRS Program, Pre and Post Training Quiz, Road Safety Training, Discussion on Student Travel Survey, Discussion on Local Observation Survey and Discussion on On-Site Investigation.

ii. Field Survey Module
The field survey module consists of three surveys as shown below ,
i. Student Travel Survey
ii. Local Observation Survey
iii. On-Site Investigation

iii. SRS Action Plan Module SRS
Action Plan has four components,
i. Education
ii. Enforcement
iii. Engineering
iv. Involvement
