LCCA for Pavement Alternative Evaluation– A case study for Guna Bypass

Scope and Objective
(i) To determine the traffic volumes on the stretch over analysis period
(ii) To generate competing alternatives
(iii) To design the pavement for each alternatives over analysis period
(iv) To estimate the whole life cycle costs for each alternative
(v) To compare all the alternatives economically for best alternative

Methodology
In this dissertation work for the 30 years analysis period different combinations of possible pavement alternatives are generated with DBM/BC, PQC and FAC considering both for full construction and stage construction options. For these alternatives maintenance and rehabilitation strategies are fixed as per MORT&H, IRC specifications. Road User Costs (RUC) for 2 Lanes and 4 Lanes for block topping are determined. For white topping RUC less fuel savings are determined. The annual costs for each alternative are determined and Net Present Value (NPV) of the total costs for each of the 17 alternatives is determined.

Findings and Conclusions
The design for various pavement alternatives has been carried out and the cost evaluation has been done for all the alternatives. The best overlay option has been selected for the case study based on the LCCA.
