Studies on Polymer Modified Binder

Scope and Objective
(i) To evaluate the mechanical properties of modified binders under different temperatures for Indian road conditions
(ii) To study polymer content and quality of polymer due to ageing
(iii) To correlate the effects of lab and field conditions.
(iv)To do laboratory ageing of binders, which realistically simulate actual field conditions and determining whether the       properties of polymer modified binder, changed during pavement service.

Methodology
Bitumen binder containing SBS (Styrene –Butadiene Styrene) will be tested in the laboratory under different service temperatures (high, low and intermediate), linear response models will be used to study the behaviour of asphalt. Appropriate models will be developed based on the results found.

Findings and Conclusions

(i) The performance data will be useful for predicting the remaining service life of pavement.
(ii) The models will help in using the required binder for different service temperatures and loads for Indian Road Conditions
