VI. RESEARCH WORK DONE IN ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS RELATED TO THESIS WORK
B. PAVEMENT ENGINEERING AND PAVING MATERIALS
Constitutive Modelling of Pavement Materials

Date of Start:January 2005
Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (R, C)

Scope and Objective
(i) To develop models that predicts the behaviour of pavement materials.
(ii) To understand and predict the behavior of materials used in the construction of flexible pavements.
(iii) Carryout experiments in lab on specified materials, anlayse the results and create a model for it.

Methodology
This research is carried initially by defining the protocols of the experiments that are to be carried out on the material of study. The research part is concerned to the behavior of wet mix macadam and asphalt concrete under repetitive load condition. Suitability of the mixes and the radiation of aggregates are worked as per the testing condition and standards that are followed. Resilient characters of wet mix macadam and asphalt concrete are to be tested out using cyclic triaxial test with LVDT measurements. The results are to be analyzed and mathematical constitutive models are to be developed.
