Present Status and Progress

Completed – Report Submitted

Findings/ Conclusion
The study covered the traffic design and financing aspects of the check post system. The design of the check post is based on approved procedures and guidelines of the IRC. On the basis of this carriageway, lay by width, tapering of the entry / exit to the check post, road signage’s etc have been recommended. The potential revenue sources and the cash flows due to the project have been estimated. The capital cost and operating and maintenance cost have also been estimated, and project evaluation techniques, namely financial internal rate of return (FIRR), which includes both the project FIRR and equity FIRR has been derived. It has been established that reasonable surplus is generated, and all critical values compare favourably with threshold values, over a 20-year time horizon.

Recommendations
The operation of the Motor Vehicle Check post requires needs to be integrated with that of other Departmental check posts such as sales tax, forest and excise. Studies in this direction is recommended.
